The Lady Mavs were down for the count in their second match of the season against Kipp Academy. The score for the games were 25-19, 25-16.
The Lady Mavs saw a tough defeat on Thursday when they fell just a little bit short. While their determination was there, some of their communication was not. Kipp Academy outplayed them by dropping balls in the gaps and the Mavs not able to recover their holes. They fought the good fight, with some strong players such as Kate Medina, Maria Juarez, and Leslie Molina.
Kate Medina served a strong serve, scoring 4 consecutive points in the second game. She stood tall and focused on the serve, in order to drop the ball right in the gap for Kipp Academy. Leslie Molina, even after sitting out for 3 rotations after an injury, came back and served a tough to beat overhand serve. Maria Juarez slid in and out of the holes on the court in order to save the ball from the ground.
While the girls had strong players, they just came a little short. On Monday, they face against Yes Prep Brays Oaks and hope to come back from their Thursday loss stronger than ever!
