This past week we (Lady Mavs) played our first home game against Beren Academy. Going into the game it was safe to say we were very nervous. We were scared that all the hard work we’ve been doing would not show. Warming up was a little bit of a struggle because our nerves were consuming us. Shaking off warm-ups we started the game off bumpy with 25-19. It took us time to get in our element, but when we did, we were unstoppable. That following set we had 6 aces and 4 kills.. We worked hard for a 25-16 finish. After the second set, we were comfortable and ready to finish the game up. There was lots of laughter and smiles going into set 3. All those butterflies were gone at that point. The third set we got a little ahead of ourselves and let them get too many easy balls on us. We finished set 3 25-17. After the game, we were all excited to take in our first win of the season. Our friend Bubba was rewarded to our newest member, Freshman, Maria Juarez. Maria worked so hard. She left her blood, sweat, and tears on the court. She showed the team that she can handle anything coming her way. We are excited to watch her grow this year. We have a lot of work to do this season, and we’re excited to make history this year!
